Never Say I Love You

I saw this on Facebook and I thought I’d post it here. This is to remind myself that love is just not enough, that words even well-spoken are not enough if there are no concrete actions made, if there are no plans and dreams to look forward to and if there are just the waiting and hoping…

Never say i love you, if you don't really care. Never talk about feelings if they aren't really there. Never touch a life if you mean to break a heart. Never say you're going to if you don't plan to start. Never look me in the eye if all you do is lie.

Life Goes On

I may be having a difficult time nowadays but I am really relieved and happy to see that some friends are really doing well in spite also of a lot of changes in their lives. Somewhere down the road I hope we will be able to get together again, talk about what we have gone through and finally, be able to share some laughs and lessons that we have gained through the experience.

A friend is now in Texas with her family. An only child, she was used to being doted upon by her parents but now that she is quite a distance away from them, it is proving to be quite an adjustment for her. Everyday was a challenge for her with kids to take care of and without household help to ease the burden in keeping house.

One recent challenge for her was driving the interstate for the first time. She had to drive her car to pick up her husband from Dallas auto repair. For somebody who was used to doing the commute and just driving around the city streets, I could only imagine the nerves she had at the interstate. She related that she sweated buckets from head to toe while driving. After that experience, she said she felt so happy and feeling so lucky that if she had the money she could just buy her husband the Chevrolet Silverado. Aside from that, she really was thankful that the brake job done on her car was quite good. It somehow helped ease the stress in driving along the busy interstate.

For sure, her experience is going to be one of those stories that we will laugh about once we get together again. In the meantime, life goes on.

Unholidaying The Holidays

Popular Philippine president Benigno Simeon Aquino III or P-Noy as he likes to be called might start gaining his unpopularity for canceling the declared holidays ordered by previous president, Gloria M. Arroyo. For this month, the August 23 declared holiday was canceled. The said holiday was previously declared in commemoration to the death anniversary of President Aquino’s father, Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Sr.

The cancellation caused the ire of a lot of people especially those with out of town trips on that date. Plane tickets and hotel accommodations are not easy on the pocket if they get cancelled.

While I may have to agree with P-Noy that holidays especially those dates that commemorate something significant historically and/or culturally should not be moved to accommodate the holiday economics of the ex-president Gloria M. Arroyo, P-Noy should have considered that these holidays were already in-placed long before he was declared president and people had already scheduled their trips and projects around it. It would have been better if P-Noy started canceling the declared holidays for 2011.

Mellow Yellow#37 Kadayawan's Indak-Indak

For days, I've been hearing the beats of the drum everywhere I go and even up until in the early mornings. Not only that, ambulant fruit vendors are sprouting in every street corner and by golly, durian smell keeps wafting around my neighborhood! Kadayawan is here!

On its 25th year of celebration, the festival has earned its reputation as one of the biggest and most beautiful festival in the country. One well-loved and most-attended event of the said festival is the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan (Dancing In the Streets) contest which usually happens on the 3rd Saturday of the month of August.

Here is one of the group participants..

In Hiatus

I have been in semi-hiatus for a few days now. It started when my father's condition worsened which led to his untimely death. My interests waned somehow and my focus went to just keeping vigil at the hospital and later, at the funeral parlor for my father's wake.

Slowly, we are picking the pieces of our lives, trying to gain back our normal lives and just moving on. My father would've not wanted us to stop living. So, we pray and go on.

Spoiled Brat In A Corporate World

A dog eats dog world the corporate is but the norms of behavior and nuances are expected to always be subtle, diplomatic, cooperative and at least, civil. So, what happens if there’s a misguided person who acts and speaks like a little monster having big tantrums inside the corporate perimeter

Picture this.. the lady came in to an officer’s office, shouted on a very high-decibel, whining voice at the seated officer, stomped her feet on the carpeted floor and banged her fists on the table. This happened during office hours with several clients within hearing distance from the area.

For whatever reason this unsavory act came about, it is still unsettling. What would the clients think about such behavior?

What would the subordinates think of their superiors behaving in such infantile conduct? Some people may think it as humorous but for most, it’s quite unbecoming of someone who has long been considered one of the seniors to act like a spoiled brat.

A spoiled brat who felt that nobody should not get the best of her.  A spoiled brat who felt that she can be entitled to throw such childish behavior.

For people who had witnessed the unfortunate incident, it would have looked humorous. Imagine an almost middle-aged lady acting like a spoiled child, shouting red-faced and tangled-hair. It’s really comical. Surely, something is totally wrong about it.

However, I wonder if management should tolerate such actions. For the inhabitants of the corporate world, that’s a real no-no. But since the culprit has been tolerated for so long now, I wonder if the management itself created the little monster.

At the least, the culprit needs some reprimand. Counseling and therapy should be seriously considered too.

Mellow Yellow#34 The Fire Dance

I attended a 2-day Photography Workshop this weekend. The workshop turned out to be quite fun and very informative learning experience for me. I learned and appreciated more the features of my camera instead of complaining about its “unusable” function keys. I also learned some really good troubleshooting tips on how to take really good photos. The above photo is one of those shots our lecturer taught us.
