Friday Fill-ins#21

1. When I heard _Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett died last week,  I  felt sad as both were part of my childhood memories. On the other hand, when I heard that JoongBo couple has fans here in the Phillipines, I felt quite happy to know since I have become their fan after watching their We Got Married show_.

2. _Laughter is the_ best medicine but you cannot laugh if you cannot have positive attitude towards life.

3. It's late, but _I was still watching youtube videos last night.__

4. _Look at the bright side_ always.

5. My eyes have seen _blurry things before and after I had them operated, my vision improved tremendously__.

6. _”You can really punch_ strongly.  You could actually knock somebody unconscious”, my boxing teacher used to say.  I could not believe what he said but it’s good to know that I could actually defend myself if need be.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to _celebrating my niece’s birthday with family__, tomorrow my plans include _watching movie (Transformers or Ice Age 3) with nieces, doing groceries and will have my picture taken for passport_ and Sunday, I want to _play tennis, cook ginataan (local snack with coconut milk, boiled banana, sweet potato, and taro balls.) and just relax around the house_!

Weekend Snapshot#44 Dreaming Of A Dip

We have been having hot days and cold nights nowadays. During the day, I could not help but wish I am in a pool like this one in the picture. This picture was taken on a weekend in a resort in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. We were on our way out for a day of sightseeing and the pool looked so inviting. So, we promised to take a dip later at night which was a bad decision because the pool was overcrowded. Nevertheless, we had a dip and enjoyed the water along with a lot of people.

Discovering Koreanovelas and Kim Hyun Joong - Part II

We Got Married

I discovered the Korean reality show, We Got Married (WGM), after watching Boy Over Flowers. I was curious about the comments made on Boys Over Flowers youtube videos about Kim Hyun Joong’s “wife”. She seemed well-loved by a lot of fans although there were the occasional nasty comments from jealous ones.

We Got Married was a reality show that partnered single celebrities as married couples. They were given missions through several episodes and this was where Kim Hyun Joong started really getting popular with his pretend “wife”, Hwang Bo Hye Jung. They became known as the Lettuce/Ssangchu/Joongbo couple.

I started watching the show out of curiosity on youtube but the awkward but often hilarious moments of this quirky couple sucked me in to watching it episode by episode (even finding the missing episodes in mysoju.com. I was actually rolling on the floor on midnights for almost 3 weeks except for the tearful ending episode that took me a while to finish. It was just difficult to end the happy times, I guess.

It was in the WGM show that I was able to “meet” Hyun Joong’s SS501 bandmates and Hwang Bo’s friends, Wonder Girls as they made house visits to the couple. Both bands are quite good and wildly popular in South Korea and both are expanding their fan base all over Asia and the US.

Nowadays, I cannot help but recommend the reality show, We Got Married, to anybody who likes to watch TV shows. Curious?  Here are the links for it:

My soju:

http://www.mysoju.com/we-got-married/episode-9/part-1/

Youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrTs8jWehfs&feature=related

Since WGM usually featured 4 couples in one episode, it would be better to use the youtube link to exclusively watch the Joongbo couple but if you are curious enough to watch the other couples who can be as entertaining in their own way, then use the mysoju link. Do not be surprised though if the link I gave started on episode 9 because it was where the Joongbo or Lettuce couple started their episode.

New Modulars And Planters

I wonder when will our office start the installation of our office modulars. Most branches had theirs long time ago but our branch is still doing the estimates, planning, canvassing and bidding.  It took several years to finally finalize the approval of the modulars’ budget and we were anxious to have it.

We requested indoor planters for the previous years. This is to conceal our work area that was entirely exposed to the clients. We were planning to request more planters this year but were told to defer it as the modular’s installation shall be implemented this year but it is already halfway through the year and we have yet to hear any development from it.

I am eyeing a decorative planter that is similar to the one I saw in an office but I can only request for this plan of mine after the modular installation. The planter was really beautiful and at the same time, quite functional as its lower portion has cabinet files.

I hope the modular installation will be implemented within this year.

Discovering Koreanovelas, Asianpop and Kim Hyun Joong - Part I

I was never really a fan of any Koreanovelas or generally, Asianovelas that invaded the Philippine TV since years ago. Mostly because the ones I have seen for a few minutes were all tearjerkers that depressed me. Additionally, watching on TV screen Tagalog dubbed shows with uncoodinated lip movements by foreign looking actors/actresses were hilariously awkward.

But when I saw one episode of Princess Hours with actress Yoon Eun Hye the other year, it made me think that it might not be depressing to watch koreanovelas or Asianovelas after all if it could be as funny and cute as the Princess Hours and as long as I can stop laughing at the uncoordinated lip movements of the actors/actresses.

Nevertheless, my koreanovela interest waned after Princess Hours until Boys Over Flowers came. I am just a sucker for tough and at the same time, sassy and funny female characters. Jan Di as played by Goo Hye Sun quite fits the bill; which is why, I started following her escapades in Boys Over Flowers (BOF).

It was just a matter of time though that BOF’s male eye candies caught my eye too. How can I not? I can hear my female neighbors’ scream from miles away each time one of the F4’s appeared on screen not to mention the fact that I can see my preteen nieces wiggling and giggling each time they watch the BOF guys.

The one that I really like among the four eye candies was Kim Hyun Joong. His Jin Hoo character was mysterious, talented, stubborn but dependable for Goo Hye Sun's Jan Di. Did I say I started wiggling and giggling too with my nieces after watching the few episodes??

When ABS-CBN decided to change the timeslot of BOF to 545pm, I was royally disappointed. Just when I was starting to appreciate a koreanovela after Princess Hours, they decided to change to a timeslot that was quite inconvenient for me. Off I go to ever-dependable youtube. Ha! I got to finish BOF in less than one week’s time hehehehe!  That was from someone who disliked koreanovela or any Asianovela for a long time.

But I got intrigued with the comments I found attached on the BOF youtube videos: Kim Hyun Joong being married to someone named Hwang Bo and such.  There were nice comments and nasty comments about her.

Decidedly curious already, I did a few clicks and I found out that it was just a reality show entitled We Got Married. A very popular one at that and the very reason why Kim Hyun Joong who is the bandleader of a popular South Korean boy group, SS501, was chosen to play Ji Hoo’s character in Boys Over Flowers.

Better Phone Service

I really hope I do not end up with the same situation as what my officemate had a few months ago. She thought she took a better deal by signing up to this phone company for phone and internet service at her home. They promised that she will get her connection within a few days but what do you know, weeks passed and several follow-ups later, there was still no connection. It was only after she threatened to sue the company and requested for the refund of her payment that they started to explain the reason for the delay. Apparently, their schedule to put up new cables in her area got delayed; but they should have informed her of this instead of letting her wait. They should have contacted her immediately to explain the cause of delay and should have given her option to withdraw or to continue. I told her that she should have checked and compared the phone company’s service record first before she finalized her decision. Nowadays, good phone service like Qwest phone service can provide better deals and better quality service to their customers.

Anyway, recently I have been complaining about our internet server’s unreliable connection and the not-so-good customer service that I had to contend with (read: nobody’s answering their customer help line and for those times that somebody did, they were really not of help).  These caused a lot of problems for me as I had work assignments that depended entirely on the internet aside from the fact that I am getting addicted with youtube nowadays.

I initially thought that it was my computer that was causing some problems but when I saw similar complaints by fellow plurkers as well as people I know who used the same service provider, I found out that it was actually my phone company that has been giving me problems.

The situation can really be frustrating especially if I have some deadlines to beat. Of course, watching youtube could not be as fun if the internet connection is not fast as that of Qwest high speed Internet.

So, now I am thinking of finding phone and internet service such as Qwest that could provide better internet connection. Better yet, if their customer service is really of good quality.

Friday Fill-ins#20

1. South Korean celebrity Hwang Bo Hye Jung has a great body. She had a great _ body when she was younger but I like her more now__.

2. _God__ is by my side, always.

3. I know this: _Death is the great equalizer. Rich or poor, ugly or beautiful, ordinary or extraordinary, we all die at the end._

4. _I am _ still here and you are still there. Are we meant to be separated forever ?

5. These words apply to me: _work in progress, direct, hardworking, loyal and adventurous__.

6. _This morning_ the sun was shining but rain took over.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to _watching Transformers__, tomorrow my plans include _meeting up with some friends and afterwards, will do the groceries__ and Sunday, I want to _play tennis and will try to update my journal__!

Always Be Secured

Time is really difficult nowadays and the sudden surge of crime rates everywhere is testament to this. Our city is known for taking the tough stance against criminals but the criminals are getting bolder.

This is the reason why my father really hates it when somebody forgets to close the front and back doors of the house. For him, one can never be too careful especially nowadays. He was telling me that someday he would get a Home Security System to minimize his worries about our safety.

I actually agree with him in trying to be always secured even if it would be an additional expense for us. In my travels abroad, I have seen how people put more importance to their home or office Security System and it really helped a lot in deterring crime against property and lives.

Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett

Just read on some shocking news a few minutes ago. Yahoo News reported that Michael Jackson was found dead in his home. He was 50 years old and the cause of his death is unknown yet. If this is true, this is really sad. I consider him one of the best artists of all time even if his life turned upside down for the past years due to his bizarre behaviors.

On the other hand, another iconic figure and I consider part of my childhood memories, Charlie's Angels TV star Farrah Fawcett died from her cancer. She was 62 and has been battling the dreaded disease for years now.

My prayers for the repose of the souls of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett.

Beach Wedding

I love the beach and a lot of my travels, which mostly are all inclusive travel deals include some really nice beach destination. I also find beach weddings quite romantic and apparently, some celebrity couples like Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott as well as Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner find it so. There is just something about being with the sea, the wind and the play of nature while celebrating the happiest day of one’s life that really make beach wedding quite romantic and beautiful.

After hearing and looking at the pictures online about these beautiful caribbean weddings, a friend promised herself that should her boyfriend propose, she will convince him to have a beach wedding with her. She knows that he might not agree due to the expenses but she has her answer. We found some very good discount vacation packages online and I do not think, he could disagree with their packages. Should he propose which I hope as soon as possible, I and some of our friends might end up tagging along with them as I do not think we could pass up the opportunity of getting good travel deals.

Maria Sharapova Is Out

I am quite curious with the girl who ousted tennis glamour girl, Maria Sharapova.  She is Argentine Gisela Dulko. Ranking 45th on the tour, Dulko won over Sharapova with 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 amassing 93 points total with 5 double faults to Maria’s 9. I hope I can watch this game on TV or youtube soon. Right now, I can only imagine a friend's displeasure over Sharapova's loss.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Finally, it is here. The movie that I have been waiting for is finally showing. The showing of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is starting today at all movie theatres in this city and I am grinning from ear to ear. Four movie cinemas each for Gaisano Mall and SM Davao are showing the much-anticipated movie.

Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Director Michael Bay and the entire cast have been busy the film promoting all over the world.

SLR Digital Camera and Flat TV

My ultimate dream camera is the SLR Digital Camera. I have been checking out SLR Digital Cameras since early this year. Ever since I came across some amazing photographs in the internet last year when I entered an online amateur photographer’s group, I became interested in upgrading my current point and shoot digital camera.

The advantage of having the SLR Digital Camera is that you can actually have endless options to capture a subject or scenery by using different lenses, which is usually the  limitation of most ordinary digital cameras. One can actually manipulate the outcome of the photograph through the use of varied lenses available for SLR’s and this what makes them exciting. Now, if only I can afford SLR Digital Cameras, I would not have any problem in buying one.

This interest was also heightened when an online photographer-blogger posted in his blogs stunning photographs taken by his nikon d90. His photographs were really amazing I had to show them to a friend who is doing part-time work as event photographer.

One more thing, have you seen photographs taken from SLR digital camera and shown on flat TV? The outcome was awesome. I have observed that people actually stop and watch each time flat panel tvs are on exhibit in the malls or on display store windows. There was one time when I was in the mall and saw this guy put on a demo of pictures taken on a SLR digital camera and showed them on the flat panel TV on display. To hear the audible ohs and ahs from the watching people was quite amusing, but that is how flat panel tvs and SLR digital cameras can actually impress.

Divorcing: Kate And Jon Gosselin

Jon and Kate Plus 8 Reality show couple Kate Gosselin and Jon Gosselin are divorcing. This is really not surprising considering the strain from being under constant public attention can actually ruin any relationship.

I am not much of a fan of reality shows that entail people living in one roof showing mundane things like bickering on who is going to do the dishes and such. I find it too lame and trivial. Not even the highly popular Pinoy Big Brother made me sit and watch the show. The only reality show that actually made me sit and watch recently was the Korean reality show, We Got Married (WGM); but I only watched the hilarious couple Kim Hyun Joong (of Boy Over Flowers fame) and his partner, Hwang Bo Hye Jung. This is because they made their partnership and their activities so much fun, I cannot help but get drawn in.

Anyway, I do wish the couple Kate and Jon Gosselin the best of luck. As for the JoongBo couple(as what fans of Kim Hyun Joong and Hwang Bo tandem call them), I wonder if they actually dated for real after their episodes wrapped up last year. They sure looked good together and get along pretty well with each other. Fans are on the lookout, I heard.
