Weekend Snapshot#32 Camiguin Island

Off to Camiguin Island this past weekend. I was amazed how the transportation going to the island has improved since the last time I was there (some more than 10 years ago). At that time, there were just two dilapidated ferry boats servicing the island. Nowadays, there are several ferries including the above roll-on, roll-off ferry that could carry several vehicles. This ferry is a lot bigger than the ones they had years ago. Travel time to the island is two hours for the roll on, roll off ferries; on the other hand, the smaller ferries can do it in one hour.  Fare is P135.00, one way.  Port of departure is the Port of Balingoan, Misamis Oriental.

Recent addition is the superfast ferry that departs from Cagayan de Oro City with fares ranging from P400.00-P600.00. Travel time from there is two hours.
