Weekend Snapshot#17 People’s Park, Palma Gil St., Davao City
For years, this place was previously used as a training facility for Davao athletes. It has been a venue for several sporting and concert events but it slowly deteriorated and was even a haven for drug addicts and lovers. Eventually closed down due to the disputes with the heirs of the previous landowner and later on, for renovation, the place previously named only as PTA of Davao City was opened with a new name, the People’s Park. The People’s Park is now one of the must-see places in Davao City. Known for its sculptures scattered all over the area, it is now a favorite destination among locals and visitors. The well-known Davao sculptor, Kublai, made the sculptures.
Fascinating sculptures and quite an improvement for the City of Davao. But when we pay a visit to above place (March 2008)it is not totally done. Do hope next time when were back in the Phils. the People's Park done totally.
