There are times that the practices we have in the office really got me shaking my head in disbelief. There are things that could have been done fastest but some reason, people tend to do it in circuitous way I could not help but wonder if they ever really understand their work, after all these years.

Here’s an instance: A branch has requested in writing a Statement of Account of one of our clients. The unit assigned to do this is our A Division. So, off the messenger went to deliver the memo-request to the said division but somebody must have been sleepy or too uncaring to read the memo-request, he/she said that their unit is not the one that should do it and instead directed the bewildered messenger to our unit. When the messenger came to our unit, she approached me and asked where should she give the memo-request. I read it and told her that she should bring it to the A Division. However, she said that she has been there and was told that it should be our unit that should comply the request. Sigh. I was about to lose my temper but held it in as the messenger was looking bewildered and scared. So, I decided just not to kill the messenger  and just received the memo-request. Afterwhich, we returned the memo to the A Division for them to prepare the Statement of Account. They received it and prepared the statement.

I wonder what was their purpose in letting our unit received and endorsed the memo-request to their end when they could have received it themselves because really, we did not need to do anything but endorsed it back to them. It could have save time and it could have saved me from getting irritated.
