Summer Outing and Team Building

Everybody is excited for our incoming summer outing next week. I, for one, is so looking forward to it.  We will be going to one of the more well-known mountain resorts which I really like because of its amenities (they have such beautiful gardens), spectacular view from the mountain slopes and of course, the good food.  I am also planning to try out their new attraction, the zipline called The Skyrider.

Summer outing is one of the corporate events that everybody looks forward to because we usually go to some place outdoors, play games, do contests, renew office camaraderie, have fun and the best thing of all, all expenses are paid free by our company.  We will have free rides to and fro the venue, which is really cool.

For a time, this annual event was suspended due to austerity measures. Not only that, a lot of our seminars like the team building seminar were suspended. It was quite disappointing as the suspension proved to be detrimental to the growth of the employees. Consequently, some employees resorted to attending seminars outside our office and paying them personally.

Speaking of TEAM BUILDING, I think it is high time that we have one. If I remember it right, we had our last team building seminar like more than a decade ago. It was fun and a really good learning experience for all of us. We were able to air out our grievances with each other, iron out our kinks and differences and ultimately, we were able to achieve good camaraderie and cohesiveness that helped our branch attain the top spot as the best branch nationwide for several years.

Nowadays, we do not even know the people at the next room even if we work in the same company, how much more those people that are working at the other floors. I have observed that a lot of employees tend to be uncooperative and unsupportive of others especially from other departments not realizing the symbiotic relationship of each and every department.

In the meantime, this upcoming summer outing is a way of knowing our co-employees, and hopefully, develop camaraderie and improve our relationship with each other.
