An old acquaintance paid me a surprise visit today at the office. He was just done with the monthly meeting with his boss. It was a pleasant surprise and I was happy to see him even if I was so busy at work. It has been a long time since we had some talk and he updated me with his past activities.
He is currently investing into real estate and has several houses in this city aside from agricultural lands.However, since his work assignment is in another city, he could only come back here on weekends leaving his houses vulnerable to theft and vandalism.He planned on getting the GE home security but got too busy with work and forgot all about it. Only after two of his caretakers looted one of his houses did he buy a GE home security system. He is now seeking my mother’s help who is into real estate to sell one of the houses as it is proving to be too difficult for him to manage them.
I was actually teasing him that he does not need to work as he can actually lay back and relax; change house everyday and wait for his income to come from his real estate properties. But the workaholic that he is only answered that he is just too young to lay back and relax. For now, he just wants to buy additional GE alarm system for his other houses while waiting for prospective buyers to come.
I am just quite happy and proud of him as he really did well with his life. He came from a poor and big family. Most of his siblings did not do well as he did. He even supported some of them. He could afford to retire at his age now but instead opted to continue to work hard, to save and to invest.
This reminds me that I should really save more and start investing.
