Kidney For Sale

I just learned that somebody I know is planning to sell her kidney. An acquaintance of hers is in need of kidney transplant and is looking for a donor. When she learned that a kidney could cause a lot (we are talking about not less P500,000.00 per kidney here),  she immediately said that she can sell one of her kidneys if it will match the recipient.

Life is hard, yes. It is not going to be easy considering the state of the world economy nowadays. However,  is it reason enough to sell your organ just to pay off your debts? I don’t think so. Our body is not really ours but God-given. Yes, you may donate an organ or two if it needs to be done, but to sell it is another story for me. I could never agree to that crazy idea.

I have been hearing about people who sold their kidney or liver in exchange of monetary compensation. Most of these people are dirt poor and a lot of them barely had basic education. So, when I hear that they sold an organ or two, I may have to understand them however opposed I am to the idea because they had no other means to survive, there are no other opportunities for them to earn a living. But when somebody that is quite well-educated, working productively but is having a hard time coping with financial difficulties sells an organ, it is mind-boggling for me. I cannot even start thinking about karma yet.

Anyway, I am trying to convince this person to change her mind. She can still work on her financial difficulties. She’s healthy, she’s still young and she got her work, she's still productive. I hope she would consider.
