I have done some small investments in the past. Lose some and won some. What I learned from the past was that before pulling out money from the egg nest to invest on something, one has to do some scouting or in-depth research and evaluation to know more about the investment. Better yet, find somebody like George Divel, who is an expert in doing financial counseling since 1998, who could really help any investor. Surely, with his vast experience (he started at the financial giant, Morgan Stanley), investment risks could be minimized. From my experience, investments should not be taken with eyes and ears closed.
